Annual Giving

Annual giving, through contributions to the Annual Fund and major gifts to the Greenwich Historic Trust, has an enormous impact on the Historical Society's ability to provide outstanding education programs and resources for the community. 

This year's Annual Fund campaign focuses on the educational programs that each year help more than 3,500 area school children learn about American history through the events that unfolded here in Cos Cob at Bush-Holley Historic Site. These young students have a "you are there" opportunity to learn what life was like in colonial New England, to understand the fundamental issues of the American Revolution and to see the work of ground-breaking Impressionist painters who stayed at the Holley boarding house between 1890 and 1920. Please support the Historical Society’s Annual Fund Campaign and make history come alive for a new generation increasingly distanced from our past. The Greenwich Board of Education contributes $6 for each student who visits, but this is only a small portion of the cost of maintaining the historic site and providing a professional museum educator and trained docents to ensure the quality of these programs.

By giving to the Annual Fund Campaign, you also reach students in need. Each year of their elementary school education, all Hamilton Avenue students have a free hands-on experience with history during visits to the Bush-Holley Historic Site. Sixty-five percent of those students live at or below the poverty level. A portion of the Hamilton Avenue program has been supported by a grant, but the Historical Society pays nearly half of the direct expenses.
